My name is Peaches, and I’m 52 years old from Washington, D.C., and I have been working on my weight loss journey since 2012.
I start my weight journey at 240 lbs in October 2015. I was having a problem with my right leg with a varicose vein that limited my workout because it was so painful. I went to my doctor, and she told me to lose some weight and it will help my leg. I just kept blowing it OFF and NOT doing anything.
One day, I was getting ready for work and I was feeling light headed and dizzy. I fell at home, broke a nail, and hurt my hand (which was sore for 5 days). So I went back to the doctor and she ran some tests.
I was told I had to take blood pressure medication. I wasn’t happy about that. The nurse asked me if I have kids….I said yes (at the time Son 22 and Daughter 28). She told me to take the medication so I can be there for them when they need me and to walk every day for 10-30 minutes. So I did so….
The year 2015 was a bad year for me. I didn’t like myself at ALL. I didn’t like looking in the mirror because I kept telling myself I was FAT and I have to do something about my weight/health.
So I sat down and did some crying, thinking, and talking to GOD about my weight and my health. My weight/health was out of control and I had to get the control back, and soon. I had to get off of the blood pressure medication and lose the weight to get the pain down with the varicose vein in my right leg.
I was already eating clean and healthy, but going to the gym was another story. I wasn’t consistent with it like I used to be.
I slacked off due to a personal issue, but the more I kept following different trainers on Instagram, I would look at the exercises and in my mind, I was like "I CAN’T do that…." I DIDN’T even try to do it, and I would move on to something that was easier for me to do. I was scared to step outside the BOX and do something that was going to challenge me to do new things. But the more I WATCHED other trainers, I told myself "I can DO that If I TRY." So in 2016 I did BETTER.
During 2017-2018, I kept watching trainers on IG and started to take control of my health….
I stepped outside the BOX and tried Tiana's Slim & Trim Challenge on March 19, 2018. It was a 4-week program. I never completed an exercise program before until now. I know Tiana said we must put in the work, and that I did. The program was hard, but I would not QUIT.
My body was sore, and a lot of the exercise I had a hard time doing. So I started writing down the exercises that I had a problem with, and I would try to do them when I had extra time to do them. I’m still working on those exercises as of today.
The layout of the program was awesome. It gives you the exercises day-by-day and instructions on how to do the exercises with videos. The videos show you how to do the exercises without hurting yourself and making sure you have the perfect form to do so. That was the AWESOME part about the program - the layout was perfect.
I completed the program and did my Before and After pictures, and I must say I did see a different. I did lose some inches and that made me happy.
When I was done with that, I was asking myself what are you going to do now? So Tiana did another challenge, and I signed up right away. It was the Sexy Summer Body Challenge, and I love everything about this program.
The layout of this program is better than the first one, the instructions, and the videos…. PERFECT!!! I have learned from the first challenge to take my time and make sure my form is right. I have notice that I can complete MY reps when I take my time and not rush though the exercise.
As of today I’m down 48 lbs, and I have 12lbs to go to reach my goal weight, which is 180lbs. I will continue to work hard. I feel good about myself. I have learned to love me and be happy within my SKIN no matter what.
